Myles 'Mike' Munro

Myles Franklin Munro (Mike), retired farmer, passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2006 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 80.
He is survived by his devoted wife of over 58 years, Marjorie (Gray), and his children, Sheila (Ronald Ryner) of Winchester, Brian (Carol Presley) of Chesterville, Garry (Diane Taylor) of Winchester, and Kevin of Chesterville. He is fondly remembered by his beloved grandsons, Kyle (Lori St. John), Craig, Jason, and Matthew Munro.
Born on July 26, 1926 at Bethune Bush, he is predeceased by his parents, Calvin S. Munro and Minnie Merkley, brothers Harold and Elburn, and sisters, Mae Robinson and Eva Sargent. He is survived by his brother, Lyle (Shirley) Munro, and his sister, Alice (Ren Elliott), and many nieces and nephews.
In the 1940s, he travelled west several times to work in the wheat harvest. From 1949 until his retirement, he and Marjorie farmed at Bethune Bush. He also worked for Ontario Hydro during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway project. Myles was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Hit and Miss Hunt Club and Red Neck Lodge Hunt Club. He enjoyed playing euchre, Honour Your Neighbour, and checkers. He was a lifelong Maple Leafs fan, and avid reader of the daily and weekly newspapers. He was a member of Trinity United Church, Chesterville.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mary Lou Shortill on Nov. 14 at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg. The pallbearers were Carl Munro, Wayne Dillabough, Gordon Elliott, Charles Gray, Mark Shay, and Glen Robinson. Following cremation, a private interment took place on Nov. 18 at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
At the family's request, donations were directed to Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
