Anthony Franciscus (Tony) Westenbroek of Winchester Springs passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Dec. 24, 2006. He was 74.
He was the dear husband of Mary Verhoeven, whom he married in Holland on Jan. 27, 1959. He was father to the late Henry (Debbie), Gerry (Rachel), Tony, and Peter (Roxanne). He is remembered by eight grandchildren. He was the brother of Truus Agricola and was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
He was born in Wolvega, Netherlands on Jan. 7, 1932 to the late Hendricus Westenbroek and Maria Janssen. He was a farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chesterville.
The funeral was held at St. Mary's on Dec. 29 with Rev. John Gillis officiating. Interment was at St. Daniel's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul, Jack, and Alodie Westenbroek, John A. Byvelds, John Melenhorst, and Anna Holtrop. Arrangements were entrusted to Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain.
