Margaret Albers
Margaret Albers, a resident of RR#2 Iroquois
for the past 53 years, passed away at Winchester District Memorial
Hospital on Jan. 14, 2007, following a brief illness. She was
63.
She was born in Vlagtwedde, The Netherlands, on June 10, 1943
to her parents Willem and Margaretha Bucking (nee Schomaker).
She lived in Holland until 1953 when the Bucking family immigrated
to Canada and settled in Connaught, Ont. They lived there for
two years before moving to the farm at RR#2 Iroquois, west of
Haddo.
On April 18, 1964 she married Ben Albers at South Mountain and
together they had two children, Rick and Joanne. Marg was a hard
worker and she worked alongside Ben for many years helping with
all aspects of farm chores in addition to caring for her family.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and oma, whose world
revolved around her family. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting,
and visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Ben; her children Rick and his
wife Carolin of RR#2 Iroquois, and Joanne and her husband Dwayne
Backes of Williamsburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren
Hannah, Heidi, Matthew, and Sarah; her siblings Bernie and his
wife Sharon Bucking of Iroquois, Corrie and her husband Tony Byvelds
of RR#3 Williamsburg, Adelaide and her husband Al Lindsay of Stittsville,
Siny and her husband Peter Blais of Munster Hamlet, Mary and her
husband Dave Coreau of Arnprior, and Otto and his wife Nancy Bucking
of Prescott; and by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her parents Willem and Margaretha Bucking.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois
on Jan. 16. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Cecilia's
Roman Catholic Church in Iroquois on Jan. 17 with Rev. Chisholm
officiating. Interment followed at St. Anne's Cemetery in Dixon's
Corners.
Pallbearers were Dennis Albers, Jim Albers, Bill Bucking, Mike
Byvelds, Dan Byvelds, and Greg Lindsay.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital or the Ottawa
Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
