Bruce Stanley Campbell
August 1, 1926 - November 27, 2007
Bruce Stanley Campbell passed away peacefully
at Dundas Manor on Nov. 27, 2007. He was 81.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary Carlyle (2001), and by his
youngest son Brian (1999). He is survived by his son Glen (Darlene),
and his daughter Isabelle. He will be fondly remembered by his
grandson Clayton (Michelle) Hiemstra and their children Brianna,
Mark, and Adrian, and by his brother-in-law Morris and Lorraine
Carlyle and their family in Kingston. He was predeceased by his
dear sister Orma (Aaron).
Dad was born at the family farm near Vernon. He farmed until 1968
when the family sold the farm and moved to Winchester. He worked
at Lannins, and Aults until he finally found his niche. He worked
for Vice Furniture, Vice and Craig Funeral Parlour, and Ambulance
Service for several years. During this time, he picked up an interest
in installing carpet, and as the old saying goes, and as half
of Winchester can attest to, the rest is history. Dad continued
to work until he was 75.
He loved to laugh, he loved to dance, play cards, and spend time
with his family. He was extremely close to his sister Orma and
her husband Aaron, and they enjoyed many trips together. The two
families share many fond memories. He loved children and young
people. He was always interested in what they were doing, and
he could always find something to tease them about. He was generous
with his family and friends, and it was very rare that he couldn't
find the good side in everyone he met.
The funeral service was held at Daniels Funeral Chapels in Winchester,
followed by a reception at the Winchester Baptist Church. The
pallbearers were his nephew John Stoodley, and his great-nephews
Timothy and Jonathan Stoodley, Jason Presley, and Darren and Adam
McDonald. The honourary pallbearers were Matthew Baker, Ron Lewis,
and Bob Francis.
Our sincere thanks to Bud McKibbon who conducted the funeral service
and to Dawn Campbell who provided the music.
A special thanks to Dundas Manor whose kindness, humour, and fast
running made Dad's stay at the Manor a pleasant one for both Bruce
and the family.
Donations to Dundas Manor, Winchester Baptist Church, or the Alzheimer
Society would be greatly appreciated.
