Murray C. Holmes
Murray C. Holmes passed away peacefully on
Fri., May 18, 2007, surrounded by his family after renewing his
vows of 55 years with his wife Peggy.
He was the loving father of Stephen, Nancy (Roger Fawcett), David
(Karen), Thomas (Nancy), Mary Jane (Terry Larose), Jo-Anne (Ricky
Grisel), Vicki Holmes, and Clarence (Angie). He was the proud
grandpa of Carrie, Mindy, Christina, Tiffany, Julie (Taylor),
Alyson, Courtney, Matthew, Nathan, and Evan. He is survived by
sisters Marguerite Fawcett, and Murla (Ron Timmins). He was a
son of the late Clarence and Hannah (Merkley) Holmes. He was predeceased
by brothers Thomas, Gerald, Lloyd, Woodrow, Keith, and Reg; and
sisters Lulu, Edna, and Mary.
Murray was a dedicated dairy farmer and spent his life operating
Holmeshaven Farms with his beloved father and his four sons. He
retired to town in 1987, where he spent his remaining years enjoying
his friends and neighbours. His love for God and his faith served
him well to the very end.
Friends paid their respects at the Winchester Funeral Home on
May 20 and 21. The Funeral service was held on May 22 at the Winchester
Wesleyan Church with Rev.Thurland Brown officiating, followed
by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
The pallbearers were Stephen Homes, David Holmes, Thomas Holmes,
Matthew Holmes, Nathan Grisel, and Evan Grisel. Serving as honourary
pallbearers were Hugh Stewart, Bill Sherwood, Bert Larocque, Bryan
Holmes, Barry Holmes, Bruce Holmes, George Holmes, Lyall Holmes,
and Paul Berry.
In memoriam donations to the Winchester Wesleyan Church or the
Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
