Lorne Cecil Reginald Last
Lorne Cecil Reginald Last passed away on Oct.
3, 2007 at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the loving husband of Elaine (Smallwood) and step-father
to Natasha. He is lovingly remembered by his children Linda, Bruce
(Sharon), Brian (Kim), Geri (Evan), Christine (Bill), Sheila (Russell),
Angela, Darlene (Ed); his grandchildren Syd, Karrie, Jordy, Jason,
Angela, Joshua, Jessica, Roger, Melissa, Jonathon, Steacy, Lindsay,
Colleen, Christopher, Amy, Jamie, Chelsea, Mitchell, Luke, Braden,
John, Amanda; and great-grandchildren Noel, Nathan, Logan, Matius,
Ford, and Alexander.
He was born on May 29, 1930 in Vernon and was predeceased by his
parents Bernard and Emma (Park). He is remembered by his sisters
Marion (Willis) and Marina (late Willie), and brothers Gordon
(Claire) and Keith (late Audrey).
He worked for Ontario Hydro as a linesman in both Cobden and Kingston
until his retirement in 1988. He loved the outdoors and had many
adventures with his family hiking, camping, and fishing. People
would remember his friendly spirit through his many visits or
striking up a conversation with new people. While living in Cobden
with his first wife Nina (Gilchrist) and his children he spent
many hours at the rink teaching his children to skate or coaching
hockey. His grandchildren remember their grandfather's love through
their special family gatherings and the games he played with them.
Celebrations of Lorne's life were held on Fri., Oct. 5 at Lake
Echo, N.S. and Sun., Oct. 6 at St. Andrew's by the Lake United
Church in Kingston, Ont.
