Shirley Alice McGowan

Shirley Alice McGowan (nee Wells) passed away just before sunrise on Nov. 8, 2007, in Winchester.
She was wed for 55 years to the late George Edward Ingram McGowan. She leaves her legacy of love and grace to: her brother Vernon (Leila); her sons and daughters Larry (Ann), Chris (Mary-Sue), Stephen (Ruth), Mark (Christine), Sharon (John), Randi (the late Richard), John (Kim), and Danny; grandchildren Mandi (Adam), Ryan (Yvonne), Jarod (Jami), Michael, Gina (Mike), Reid (Terri), Robyn (Dave), Katrina (Lorne), Calvin, and Garrett; great-grandchildren Kyler, Devin, Sydney, August, and Lorilei; as a special Mom to Kimmie and Christie; to over a hundred fostered children, and to so many cherished relations and friends. We have known a woman of substance.
Friends paid their respects at the Winchester Funeral Home on Sun., Nov. 11. The funeral was held Nov. 12 at St. Matthias' Anglican Church in Winchester.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
