Bert Smith

Bert Smith (Bertyl) passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by his family at Pontiac Community Hospital in Shawville, Que., on Thurs., June 21, 2007. He was 78.
He was the beloved husband of Iris Hodgins for 55 years. He was predeceased by his parents Vera Hayes and Hillis Smith, and a sister Lois. He was a beloved brother to Anna; and brother-in-law to Norma Stewart and Carman (Carol) Hodgins. He was a loving father to Jo-Anne, Jill (Les Orr), and Stacey (Wayne Robinson). He was the wonderful and cherished "Popa" to Kimberly (Carl Havekes), Trina (Ryan Mace), Cory, Andrea, Karla, Jordan, Brittany, and Johnathan and great-grandfather to Brianna. He was the special "chum" to "Buddie," and the treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Ringrose Brothers Funeral Home in Campbell's Bay, Que. on June 24 and June 25 in the afternoon until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm in the funeral home. The pallbearers were Stacey Robinson, Kimberly Havekes, Trina Telford, Andrea Hobbs, Dan Brown, and Cory Hobbs.
Special thanks to Dr. Bormanis of the Parkdale Clinic, and Dr. Benfey, nurses and staff of Pontiac Community Hospital for Bert's care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pontiac Community Hospital, palliative care services or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
