Marilyn Smith

Marilyn Smith, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away suddenly at home in Brinston on Thurs., March 8, 2007. She was 66.
She was born at Winchester Springs on April 24, 1940, to her parents John "Jay" and Irene Bailey (nee Marcellus). She attended Winchester Springs Public School and Winchester High School.
Following high school she worked at several jobs including key punch operator at Metropolitan Life Insurance company in Ottawa, cafeteria manager at North Dundas District High School, clerk at Brinston General Store, delivering mail to country mail boxes, and bus driver at Whitteker Bus Lines.
Her main interest was spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking her children to sports activities, listening to country music, shopping, and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by her children Jeff Smith (Melinda Witteveen) of Morrisburg, and Jo-Anne (Mike) McCrea of RR #2 Spencerville, her brothers John (Debbie) Bailey, and Charles (Laurie) Bailey, both of Brinston, her grandchildren Kelly, Carrie, and Maggie, and her great-granddaughter Reavyn. She was a dear aunt to Jason and Jeremie (Allison) Bailey. She was predeceased by her parents Jay and Irene Bailey (nee Marcellus), her grandson Lucas McCrea, and her companion Roger Payne.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on March 11 from noon until the time of the service held at the funeral home with Rev. Yvonne Willis officiating. Interment followed at Spruce Haven Cemetery in Brinston. The pallbearers were Jason Bailey, Jeremie Bailey, Jack Coulter, Ralph Jollota, Anthony Baelde, Jamie Allen, and Rodger Allen. The honourary pallbearer was Bert Smail.
