Ray Van Noy

Ray Van Noy of Winchester passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Sun., Oct. 21, 2007. He was 73.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1934 in Long Beach, CA. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Gail (nee Lannin). He was the loving father of Jeffrey (Jennifer) Van Noy of Stirling, J.D. (Jane) Van Noy of Athens, and Chris. He was the cherished grandfather of Mitchell, Nate, Daniel, Christina, Kimberlee, Jevin, Joshua, and Jacob.
He was an avid curler and golfer. He loved snowmobiling and hunting. He was a Scout Master, past president of the 100 Club, past Master of Henderson Lodge, and a member of Karnak Shrine. He was also a director and a past president of the Lumber and Building Material Association of Ontario.
He moved to Winchester in 1964 and worked at H.S. Lannin Ltd. which he and Gail eventually purchased in 1974. He also established a wrought iron business, and many local houses and businesses were complemented by his railings and art form.
He joined the U.S. Air Force when he was only 17 years old. During his service he received the Air Force Medal as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal.
The family received friends at Daniels Funeral Chapels in Winchester on Tues., Oct. 23. The funeral service was held at the Winchester United Church on Wed., Oct. 24, followed by interment at Knights Cemetery in Inkerman. The pallbearers were Jevin Eyzenga, Bill Vermilyea, Perry Stacey, Sam Wade, John Wilkie, and Eli Kelly.
