Michael Hugh Dymoke Broad
Michael Hugh Dymoke Broad of Winchester died
peacefully in hospital on Sun., Jan. 20, 2008. He was 77.
He was predeceased by parents Colonel Robert Norman Dymoke Broad
and Katharine Monica Pulford of England. He was the husband of
the late Wendy (Gammon), and the loving husband of Irene Woolford.
He is survived by his three children Peter (Julie), Georgina (Peter
Ellis), and James. He was the cherished grandfather of Rebecca
and Charlotte Broad. He was the uncle of Valerie Woolford and
family.
Michael's schooling carried him through Wellington College, Sandhurst,
and Cranwell Military Colleges to a career with the Royal Air
Force Regiment. This took him to many postings in the U.K., as
well as Singapore, and Cypress. His fields of service were in
fuels, explosives, and ordinance. He was particularly proud of
the time spent in Nepal for a relief mission to fly rice into
small villages in the mountains. His responsibilities were to
establish an air field. This operation was called "Khana
Cascade" in 1973.
Always a gentleman, he never spoke ill of anyone, and was always
willing to see the other side of the argument.
Michael's charm, kindness, and gentle spirit will be sadly missed
and never forgotten.
The funeral service will be held at St. Matthias Anglican Church
in Winchester on Mon., Jan. 28 at 2 pm. Refreshments will follow.
Donations to RCAF Memorial Association or Winchester District
Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
The arrangements are entrusted to Byers Funeral Home in South
Mountain, 613-989-3836.
