Freida Evelyn Coons
Freida Evelyn Coons (nee Fawcett) passed away
peacefully at Dundas Manor in Winchester on Tues., Jan. 1, 2008.
She was 84.
She was the beloved wife of Hugh Coons for 59 years. She was born
on June 1, 1923 to William Fawcett and Lola (nee Allison). She
was the loving mother of Allison of Iroquois, and Carolyn (Martin)
of Palgrave, and the late William. She was the cherished grandmother
of Kirk, Korrine (Darryl), Paul, and Scott, as well as a loving
great-grandmother to Emma and Ava. She was the dear sister of
Allison (Jean), Roy (Shirley), and Ralph (Mary), and was predeceased
by brothers Keith and Gordon.
She was born and raised in Mountain Township. She married Hugh
Coons and settled on their farm where they raised three children.
She was actively involved in the United Church Women, Women's
Institute, and the South Nation Conservation Authority - in particular
the Cass Bridge Park. Through these associations she developed
many life long friends. She will be forever remembered as compassionate,
caring, loving, proud, dignified, confident, and quick witted,
with a great sense of humour, and a love for life and all it had
to offer.
The funeral service was held at Daniels Funeral Chapels in Winchester
on Fri., Jan. 4 and was followed by a reception at the Winchester
United Church. Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
The pallbearers were Kirk Hutt, Darryl Acres, Paul Hemy, Scott
Hemy, Danny Johnstone, and Graham Link.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bart Steele, the staff at Dundas
Manor, and the many family, friends, and neighbours for their
love and support.
