Garnet Arthur Johnston

Garnet A. Johnston of Winchester passed away at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Sat., Aug. 16, 2008. He was 79. He is now free from pain and travelling on an open road to Heaven.
He was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret Johnston. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 53 years Lillian (nee Brown) Johnston; four devoted daughters and three sons-in-law, Ellen, Catherine (Fred) DeVries, Lisa (Garry) Hutt, and Pennylynn (John) Craig; six grandchildren Amanda, Pamela, Jenna, Kelsey, Dan, and Matthew; and two sisters Betty (Allen), and Lorraine (Workman). He was the dear friend of Mark Gauthier. He was predeceased by brothers Tom and Lorne, and sisters Gertrude, Charlotte, and Ann. He will be sadly missed by his loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Family received friends at the Daniels Funeral Chapels in Winchester on Mon., Aug. 18. The funeral service was held in the chapel on Tues., Aug. 19 followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Fred DeVries, John Craig, Garry Hutt, Dan DeVries, Denzil Crowder, and Bill Sherwood.
