Barbara Ann Lough

Barbara Ann Lough, a well known business woman, passed away suddenly on Tues., Dec. 23, 2008. She was 72.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband Alex, her dear children Kevin (Sheila) Cooper, Wendy (Roger) Tessier, June (Grant) Hayes, Brenda (Jeff) Clements, and Shelley (Blaine) Wright. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Troy and Tyler Thompson, Mike Tessier, Stefan Premate, Jennifer and Jeffery Clements, and Jill and Sarah Wright, as well as her nine great-grandchildren.
She was born to Roland Robitaille and Margaret Kelley in Rock Island, Que. on Nov. 30, 1936. Barbara and Alex were married on Christmas day in 1954 and together raised five children. Her hard work and dedication was evident as together Barb and Alex ran several businesses. A&B Egg and Poultry Farm saw the couple delivering eggs door-to-door daily to customers in Ottawa. Lough Crest Foods delivered eggs, butter, and cheese to customers throughout the United Counties and beyond. Lough Crest Gardens raised and sold plants and flowers to nurseries and other wholesale retailers. Many will remember Al's Lemonade and Elephant Tears Stand, which appeared at all of the local fairs. She also obtained her Floral Design Diploma from Algonquin College. She opened Lough Crest Flowers in Cardinal, which she sold and is now called Cardinal Flowers that has expanded to Morrisburg.
In recent years, she became computer savvy and began Musical Memories. She could transfer favourite music from eight track or record to CD so that old favourites could be enjoyed. She was also able to transfer old VHS tapes to DVD. During the last 30 years, Barb and Alex have also sold homemade jams, jellies, and pickles at local craft shows. Barb did not sit still. She was inquisitive, and wanted to know how everything worked. There was nothing she could not do. She was made an Honourary Life Member of the Mountain and District Lions Club. Because of this accomplishment, memorial donations may be made to the Mountain and District Lions Club.
In accordance with Barb's request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place in the spring.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Winchester Funeral Home.
