Audrey Arabella Richmire
Audrey Arabella Richmire (nee Casselman), a
lifetime resident of the Williamsburg area, passed away at Winchester
District Memorial Hospital on Tues., April 22, 2008. She was 93.
She was born in Matilda Township on November 9, 1914 to her parents
Frank and Eva Casselman (nee Bowman). She was raised on the family
farm and attended school in Williamsburg Township.
On December 3, 1930 at Williamsburg's St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran
Church she married George Richmire and together they created a
loving home for 12 children Winnifred, Audrey, Ethel, Louise,
George, Evelyn, Maynard, Raymond, Gloria, Clarke, Beverley, and
Penney. Having 12 children meant that George and Audrey Arabella's
lives were filled with hard work to make sure that all of the
family's needs were met, but each member of the family helped
out and the family enjoyed a very happy family life. She was an
excellent baker and cook, and she passed on this skill to her
children.
Audrey Arabella will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife,
mother, and grandmother whose world revolved around her family.
She is survived by her children Audrey Cross of Chesterville,
George of Williamsburg, Evelyn Richmire of Barrie, Maynard (Bonnie)
of Williamsburg, Raymond of Riverside Heights, Clarke (Barbara)
of Perth, Beverley Richmire of Williamsburg, and Penney (Clifford)
Towsley of Cardinal, her siblings Jean (Donald) Roles of Morrisburg,
and Wellington (Ruth) Casselman of Froatburn. She will be fondly
remembered by 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces
and nephews. She was predeceased by daughters Winnifred Mulrooney,
Ethel Marriner, Louise Small, Gloria McNalty, a sister Viola Casselman,
and brothers Wesley, Francis, Eric, and Enos Casselman.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Thurs., April 24. The funeral service was held at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church in Williamsburg on Fri., April 25 with Rev. Norinne
Gullons officiating. Interment followed at New Union Cemetery
in Williamsburg. The pallbearers were grandsons Cory Small, Anthony
Small, Gary McNalty, Derrick Richmire, Adam Richmire, and Nathan
Richmire.
Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Arthritis Society would
be appreciated by the family.
