Arnold Stobo
Arnold Stobo, a resident of Cardinal for the
past 36 years, passed away at Winchester District Memorial Hospital
on Wed., March 5, 2008. He was 70.
Arnold was born in Winchester on Oct. 13, 1957 to his parents
Morton and Jean Stobo (nee Summers). He was raised on the family
farm north of Winchester, and attended local schools.
Following high school he began working as a milk truck driver
for Laporte's Transport. It was during one of his frequent trips
to Ault Foods that he met Grace Kerr who worked there as a secretary.
Eventually he and Grace were married at Hallville United Church
on Nov. 21, 1964 and together they had two children, Martin and
Angela.
He worked for over 35 years at Casco in Cardinal until he retired
in 1997. He was a hard working man, and he enjoyed hunting and
fishing. He was also a very talented carpenter and cabinet maker,
and many of his creations can be found in the homes of his family
and friends.
He is survived by his wife Grace Stobo (nee Kerr); his children
Martin and Angela, both of Cardinal; his siblings Gordon of Winchester,
Reginald and his wife Deanna of Manotick, Gail and her husband
Tom Cousans of Picton and Brian and his wife Francine of Winchester;
and his mother-in-law Nelda Kerr of Hallville. He will be fondly
remembered by grandchildren Kristopher, Ty, Parker, and Melodee.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter Carol Ann, his parents
Morton and Jean Stobo (nee Summers), and a brother Gerald. He
is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Cardinal,
on March 7. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on
March 8, with Rev. Yvonne Willis officiating, followed by interment
at Reid's Mills Cemetery. The pallbearers were Bruce Kerr, Dean
Kerr, Clair Kerr, Dale Wise, Raymond Porteous, and Harold Wyatt.
