Campbell Blakely Taylor
April 15, 1928 - Nov. 27, 2008
Campbell Blakely "Blake" Taylor passed
away peacefully after a tough battle with cancer at Winchester
District Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on April 15, 1928 in Galt, Ont. to the late Campbell
McKenzie Taylor and the late Alice Mildred Eatough. He was the
beloved husband of Mary, whom he married in Ottawa in May 1986.
He was the loving father of Scott (Christine), Peter, Ann Lillepold
(Marty), and Robert. He was the dear step-father of Bryan Fetterly
(Cathy), Dawn Hutt (Brian), and Mark Fetterly (Andrea). He was
the treasured grandfather of Jason Weststrate (Jodi), Kelly, Daniel,
and Julia Taylor, and Katie Lillepold. He was the special grandfather
to Dustin and Dylan Fetterly, and great-grandfather to Jessie
and Rawnie Weststrate. He is survived by a dear brother Jack (Lois)
of Toronto, their children Cam and Ellen and families, as well
as by cousins with whom Blake grew up in Galt, and their families.
At the University of Western Ontario, Blake played with the Mustangs,
and after graduation, in 1951 and 1952 he played with the Hamilton
Tiger Cats. He later taught Physical Education at South Grenville
District High School in Prescott, and for 30 years at North Dundas
District High School in Chesterville until his retirement.
He played countless hours on playing fields coaching numerous
teams in his communities and schools. One of his most valued trophies
reads 'Thanks, "Chuckles" Taylor'.
At Blake's request there was no wake or funeral. Immediate family
has gathered to celebrate his 80 years of generous, big-hearted
life, remembering always to stay young at heart, and to "be
humble in victory and gracious in defeat".
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Byers Funeral Home
in South Mountain.
