Robert Seaton Usher "Bob" died after
a brief stay in the Winchester District Memorial Hospital in the
morning on Fri., Jan., 25, 2008.
He was the beloved father of Dean Usher (Lorraine Dignard) of
Metcalfe, and Shelley Usher of Ottawa. He was the grandfather
of Seaton and Nelson Usher of Metcalfe. He was survived by his
brother John Usher (Betty) of Vancouver, his sister Beth of Colborne,
and nieces and nephews across Canada. He was predeceased by his
parents Nelson and Blanche Usher (nee Kerr), by his son Robert
McKenzie Usher, his brother Richard and his sister Alice. He is
also survived by Bonnie Foster of Oxford Mills, his life partner
and her children, Kris, Karen, and Emily Abel of Toronto. He will
be missed by his life long friends Doug Clark (Barbara) of Kingston,
and also by the many good friends he has made in the Kemptville
area.
He was well known in this area for his love of reading, bookstores,
poetry, dogs, horses, agriculture, and people. He is beloved by
us all.
Bob joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1951 to 1953 where he
served in Korea, retired in 1979, and was called back to serve
another term of duty until 1984. During his military tenure,
he achieved the rank of Artillery Captain. Bob was a farmer, a
poet, an author, a teller of stories, and the best of mentors.
Visitation will be held at Grant Brown Funeral Home Rolston Chapel
in Kemptville on Fri., Feb. 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and Sat.
Feb. 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation
to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation (CHEO).
