James Alfred Beattie

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Alfred Beattie on March 14, 2009 in Nanaimo, BC after a brief battle with cancer. He was 81.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Earle Beattie (1970) and Mabel Beattie (1999), and hisdaughter Lynda Marie Beattie (2001). He is survived by his wife, Beryl Elaine Beattie, his son, Bruce (Barbara) of Bonnyville, Alta., and his daughter, Susan Beattie of Nanaimo, BC. He is also survived by three granddaughters - Amber (Glen) Porter, Brianna, and Meagan - as well as great-grandchildren Morgan and Jayden. He will be missed by many friends.
James was born on Jan. 8, 1928 in Tillsonburg, Ont. and was raised in London, Ont. After living in many places, he settled in Winchester, where he operated his own carpet cleaning and mat rental business. He retired to Gabriola Island, BC in 2003 and spent the last years of his life there.
James will be interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in London, Ont.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory would be greatly appreciated.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo, BC.
