Daniel Ernest Cameron
1924 ­ 2009

The death of Dan Cameron occurred on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Fredericton, NB.
Born on Nov. 10, 1924 in Osgoode, and raised in Vernon, Dan was the son of the late James and Euphemia (nee Madden) Cameron. He was the brother of Leonard, Effie, Hugh, and Alan. He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Lynch), his daughters Nancy Kathryn Cameron, Bonita Delaney, and Shelley, and by Joan's daughters Rhonda Vaughan (Douglas), Nancy Lynch (Herbert Thompson), and Lori Lynch (David Beattie). He is also survived by brothers Hugh and Alan (Betty), several nieces and nephews, and grandchildren Mark (Melissa) Cameron, Patrick and Jillian Delaney, Marybelle Cameron-Pack, Maggie, Stephen and David Vaughan; and Richard (Maureen), Peter (April), and Thomas Belding.
In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by his first wife Audrey (Coristine), and in his immediate family, brother Leonard and his wife Olive, sister Effie and her husband Gerald Morris, and brother Hugh's wife Roberta.
Although he moved to the Maritimes in 1949, he maintained family ties in Ontario, and visited often. A veteran of World War II, he served in the RCAF, and was a long-time member of the RCAF Association 252 Wing, and the Royal Canadian Legion.
He was the founder of numerous businesses, including Atlantic Rentals Ltd., and was a well-known and respected businessman throughout Canada and the U.S. He served a four-year term as an MLA, and Leader of the Official Opposition in the New Brunswick Legislature.
Dan enjoyed travelling, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, collecting paintings, coin and paper money and stamps, tying salmon flies, and restoring horse- drawn buggies and sleighs. He was a member of many church, historical, military, political, and civic committees and organizations over the years.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 tribute was held during visitation in Fredericton on April 14.
The funeral service was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on April 15. Visitation was held at the Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe on Fri., June 19 and Sat., June 20 until the time of the memorial service in the chapel at 11 am, with inurnment immediately following at Springhill Cemetery.
