Roy Darling

Roy Darling, a resident of Dundas Manor, formerly of Chesterville, passed away on June 13, 2009 at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 92.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1917 in Dundela to the late John and Myrtle (nee Merkley) Darling. He was the husband of Isobel Mabel Smith, whom he married on July 26, 1944 at Trinity United Church in Chesterville. He was the father of Kevin (Sharon) and Ron (Heather), and Poppa to grandchildren Greg (Connie), Philip (Renuka), and Matthew, and to great-grandchildren Hayden and Lillian. He was the brother of Dorothy Jordan and the late Madeline McElheran, Luella Gilmer, and Edith Johnston.
He was formerly a farmer and was a member of the United Church.
The funeral was held in the chapel of the Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain on Tues., June 16, 2009 with Rev. Victoria Fillier officiating, followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Greg, Philip and Matthew Darling; and Lyle Byers.
