Clasina Doesburg
Clasina Doesburg, a resident of the Woodland
Villa Nursing home in Long Sault for the past two and half years,
passed away there on Tues., Dec. 1, 2009. She was 93.
Clasina was born in Holland on Aug. 28, 1916 to her parents, Frans
and Jannatje VanderKruk (nee Hofland). She was raised in Holland,
and on July 16, 1942 she married Simon Doesburg. Together they
immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in the Dixons Corners
area. In 1955 they purchased their first farm. Clasina was an
avid gardener and took great pride in her flower beds. They retired
from farming in 1974. She was a member of the church choir and
was the co-ordinator for the rummage sales for Timothy Christian
School.
Clasina is survived by her children; Jenny Doesburg (Leland Dawson)
of Iroquois, Tina Doesburg of Iroquois, and John (Ruth) of Mariatown;
her sister Truus Vlieg of Edmonton; her grandchildren, John Doesburg,
Steven Doesburg and Melanie (Andrew) McCourt; and her great-grandson
Logan McCourt. She was predeceased by sisters Nellie VanderKruk,
Janny VanderKruk, Truusje VanderKruk, Gerritje DeVries, and brothers
Cor, Gerrit, and Johan VanderKruk. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Thurs., Dec. 3. The funeral service was held at Williamsburg
Christian Reformed Church on Fri., Dec. 4 with Rev. John Noordhof
and Rev. Clarence Witten officiating followed by interment at
New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg. The pallbearers were John
Doesburg Jr., Steven Doesburg, Fred Zandbergen, George Hoftyzer,
Peter VanVeen, and Glenn Lapier.
Donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital or Timothy
Christian School would be appreciated by the family.
