Clara Graham
Clara Graham (nee McShane), a resident of Iroquois
for the past 45 years, passed away suddenly on Fri., Aug. 7,
2009. She was 71.
She was born in Mountain Township on July 27, 1938 to her parents
Isaac and Florence McShane (nee Buchan). She was raised with four
other siblings in Pleasant Valley, where she attended high school
in South Mountain.
On June 4,1960, she married Ronald Graham, and together they had
two children, Bruce and Sharon. Clara was a proud, loving, and
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always maintained a
keen interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She was a lady who had many interests. In her early years, she
worked in Prescott and at the library in Iroquois. At her home,
she had the most beautiful flower garden, and she was an absolutely
wonderful cook. She possessed great style, and she enjoyed going
to concerts, listening to music, and travelling. She was a devoted
member of Iroquois United Church and will be deeply missed by
the congregation. She was a hard-working and organized woman,
and she used these talents very effectively during the past number
of years when she served as chairperson of the Iroquois United
Church Social Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, Bruce and his
wife Debbie, and Sharon and her husband John Westendorp; her grandchildren,
Stephanie and Rachelle Graham, and Alexandria Westendorp; her
siblings, Nellie Croteau, Joyce Bueley, and Helen Link; and by
her brother, Walter McShane. She is also survived by several nieces
and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois
on Mon., Aug. 10. The funeral service was held at the Iroquois
United Church on Tues., Aug. 11, with Rev. Janet Evans officiating,
followed by interment at South Gower Cemetery. The pallbearers
were Larry St. Pierre, Bill MacDonald, Mike McQuaid, and Chris
McShane.
