Colbourn R. Helmer
Coby Helmer of RR#4 Winchester passed away
peacefully at Dundas Manor on Thurs., Feb. 19, 2009. He was 87.
He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Margaret (nee Parish)
Helmer. He was the much-loved and respected father of Erma (Charles)
Holmes, Viola (late Allan) Ennis, Richard (Yvonne Gill), Milly
(John) Ferguson, David, and Paul (Shelley). He was the dear brother
of Francis Windsor. He was predeceased by sisters Cora Primrose
and Bessie, and brothers William, Stanton, and Albert. He will
be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Michael (Angela) Holmes,
Wendy (George Croteau) Holmes, Diane (Richard) Blank, and Kelsey
Ellis, and great-grandchildren Tobias Holmes, Paedon and Jalin
Blank. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces,
and great-nephews.
Coby spend his life on the "Ridge" where he made his
living as a farmer, as well as working on the Seaway, at Leo's
Livestock, and driving a school bus for several years, which was
probably his favourite occupation. His compassion for children
sure shone when all the neighbouring kids and his own children's
friends collected at the farm.
Family and friends paid their respects at the Daniels Funeral
Chapels in Winchester on Fri., Feb. 20. The funeral service was
held in the chapel of the funeral home on Sat., Feb. 21 with Rev.
Stephen Neil officiating, followed by interment at Maple Ridge
Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were his grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Winchester Baptist Church, Dundas Manor
Activity Fund, or Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
