Hazel Olive McLaren
Hazel Olive McLaren (nee Simzer) passed away
at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Wed., Aug. 12,
2009. She was 95.
She was born July 25, 1914 in Howick, Quebec to the late Howard
Simzer and the late Margaret Arcand. Hazel later married the late
Wilfred Ross McLaren in South Mountain on May 7, 1943, and the
pair lived in Mountain. Hazel later moved into Dundas Manor in
Winchester.
Hazel is survived by her children, Leonard (Sheila Rousselle)
and Ken (Elaine); her grandchildren, Diane McLaren (Frank), Angela
(Isaac Gannon), and Julie (Geoff) Summers; and her great-grandchildren,
Margaret Martin, Alison, and Kaitlynn Summers. Hazel was predeceased
by her siblings, Wilburn Simzer, Irene McKenna, Arnold Simzer,
and Ruby DeClaire. She was the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
The funeral took place on Fri., Aug. 14 at 11 am at the Byers
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mary Lou Shortill officiating. Later,
interment took place at the South Gower Cemetery. The pallbearers
were Ken and Leonard McLaren, Geoff Summers, and Dale Stewart.
