Clark Murdock
Clark Alexander Murdock passed away at Bayfield
Manor in Kemptville on Wed., Dec. 16, 2009.
Born on Sept. 21, 1913, he was the son of the late Albert and
Valetta (McCaul) Murdock. He was predeceased by his brothers Norman,
Lloyd, Earl, Irvine, and Milton, and sister, Lucinda. Clark was
raised at Reid's Mills and attended North Mountain Consolidated
School in Hallville.
On Dec. 14, 1935, he married Selma Davis in Merrickville. Until
1963, they farmed at Reid's Mills, at which time they purchased
the general store in Balderson, and later, the general store in
Maynard. Moving to Johnstown in 1974, Clark was an agent for Brockville
Cemetery Memorials until his retirement in 1981.
"The Boss" is survived by his daughter, Muriel Allen
(the late Don) of Mountain, Mel (Yvonne) of Osgoode, and Dixie
Vanderstelt (Nick) of Richmond, B.C. He is predeceased by his
son, Harold, and daughter, Nancy. He was "Clark" or
"Grandpa" to nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,
and two great-great-granddaughters, as well as many nieces, nephews,
and extended family.
The funeral service was held at the Tubman Funeral Home, Kars
Chapel, on Dec. 18 with Rev. Blair Paterson of Hallville United
Church officiating. The pallbearers were Mel Murdock, Nick Vanderstelt,
Larry and Kevin Allen, Lyndon Murdock, and Rick Fisher. Interment
will be at South Gower Cemetery in the spring.
