Mabel Ann Walker

Mabel Ann Walker (nee Porteous) of Winchester passed away peacefully at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Mon., Jan. 19, 2009. She was 93.
She was the beloved wife of the late Charlie Walker, and the loving mother of Gordon Walker of Vernon, Marie (Carl) Sears of South Mountain, and Cynthia Summers (Randy Moore) of Winchester. She was the cherished grandma of David Sears (Marianne), Curtis Sears (Sharma Moran), Shaun Sears, and Brad Moore (Angie Thompson). She was predeceased by her siblings John, Harold, Hilda, and Jean Acres. She was the sister-in-law of Betty Porteous, Helen Summers, Pearl Burd, and Ralph Walker (Myrna).
By Mabel's request, there was no visitation. A memorial service was held on Sat. Jan. 24 at the Winchester Wesleyan Church with piper Shawn Steele and eulogies by Keith Stoodley and Troy Acres. Interment of cremated remains will be held in the spring at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
