Michael Delaney
Michael Delaney passed away at the Ottawa Hospital
General Campus on Mon., March 1, 2010, after a courageous battle
with Myelodysplastic Syndrome which led to Leukemia. He was 61.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend, Janet
(nee Laponsee). He was the loved father of Matthew and Christie
Delaney of Avonmore and Diana Begg (Mark) of Finch. He was the
dear son of Ursula Thompson (nee Curran), and the cherished brother
of Patricia Delaney (Kingston), Kathleen Delaney, Maureen Delaney
(Bob Charlebois), Dennis (Gerry), all of Ottawa, and Darlene Blanchard
(Paul) of Cornwall. He was predeceased by his father Vincent,
and two brothers Dean and Lawrence. He will be missed by his brothers
and sisters in-law, and countless nieces and nephews.
He was the proud owner and operator of Delaney Bus Lines and made
it grow into what it is today. Mike loved life and found joy in
everything he did, from playing guitar, skiing, and swimming to
driving his car, which always turned into a new adventure.
Visitation was held at the Brownlee Funeral Home in Finch on Thurs.,
March 4 and Fri., March 5. The funeral for Mass of Christian Burial
was celebrated on Sat., March 6 in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic
Church in Apple Hill. Rite of Committal will be held in the parish
cemetery in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Fund at the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, 737 Parkdale,
1st Floor, Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 1J8 or the consideration of donating
blood would be appreciated by the family.
