Margaret Alice Duke
Margaret Alice Duke (nee Croteau) passed away on Wed., May 5,
2010 after a short, but vigilant fight with liver disease.
Left to mourn her are her husband of 39 years, Denzel; children
Tammy (Keith Brady), Graham (Elaine), and Patty Daines (Tim).
Nanny will be missed by Carter and Kaylee Lynn Daines. She was
predeceased by her parents, Marcel and Louise Croteau. She is
survived by her mother-in-law, Hazel Duke, siblings David Croteau
(Susan), Paul Croteau (Krisjanis), John Croteau (Diane), and Anne
Croteau. Margaret was two weeks shy of her 62nd birthday.
She was born and raised for her first five years in Hull/Gatineau.
Then her family moved to Ottawa where she grew up. She continued
her higher education at teacher's college and then at Carleton
University to get her teaching degree. After sometime of substitute
teaching, she married Denzel in 1970 and moved to the Duke farm
in Morewood; becoming a farm wife and raising three children.
Margaret helped Denzel build their dairy and cash crop farm (Dukedale
Farms) to what it is today. Margaret always enjoyed being involved
in many community events where she and her husband paraded their
horses and carriage. Margaret also enjoyed the trips she and Denzel
took near and far.
Nanny, as she like to be called, loved to spend her time with
her grandchildren whenever she could. She like lilacs, blue jays,
Saturday crosswords with Tammy, reading, and most of all shopping;
especially for Carter and Kaylee Lynn.
She will be greatly missed by all she touched in her years here.
We love you maw! Thank you for being our rock!
A memorial service was held at Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in
