Margaret Ellice Johansen
Margaret Ellice Johansen (nee Gibson) passed away peacefully at
Dundas Manor on Mon., June 7, 2010, at the age of 93.
She was one of six daughters of the late Lawrence Arlie and Ada
Jane Walker. She was the beloved wife of, and predeceased much
too soon in 1968 by, her husband Walter Stanley Gibson of Winchester
Township, and her second husband William Johansen of Prescott
in 1976. Margaret was predeceased by sisters Laura (John Hall)
of Roebuck, Ruth (Paul Johansen) of Mountain, and Lillian (Donald
Wittenberg) of Ottawa. She is survived and missed by sisters Mary
(Clifford Green) of Victoria, B.C., and Phyllis (Murray Slater)
of Chilliwack, B.C. She was the devoted and loving mother of Edward
(Mary) Gibson of Winchester, Larry (Barbara) Gibson of Westmeath,
and Kathryn (Bruce) Oregan of Vancouver, B.C. Margaret will also
be missed by Peter (Oxana) Johansen of Ottawa, and Nancy (Richard
Weingard) of Toronto. She was the cherished grandmother of Daniel
(Irene), Allison (Doug), Mary Susan (Dave), Sherri (Terry), Scott
(Yolanda), Andrea (Jacob), Shane (Kirsten), and Shannon (Guy).
She will be remembered by step-grandchildren Christian, Damyon,
and the late Erin Johansen. She was the treasured great-grandmother
of Scott, Max, and Liam Serviss; Olivia and Julia Gibson; James,
Connor, and Christopher Gibson; Harrison and Aldia Rutter; and
Aurora Thomas.
Family received friends at the Winchester United Church on Fri.,
June 11, followed by the funeral service at 1 pm with Rev. Christine
Lowson officiating. The pallbearers were her sons and grandsons.
Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
In memory of Margaret, donations may be made to the Dundas County
Hospice or the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Arrangements were entrusted to Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in
