William James Johnston

William J. Johnston of Winchester passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Thurs., May 13, 2010, in his 76th year.
He was the beloved husband of Sherrill Johnston and the loving father of Kelly (Michael) Vincent, Gordon (Linda), Sandy (Erin), and Scott (Skye). He will be fondly remembered by eight grandchildren.
"Bill" was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He thrived as a local businessman and was respected for his involvement in the community for 43 years. His interests included the Lions Club, Curling Club, and various charities. Bill remained a devout member of the Presbyterian Church up until his passing. He and his family spent much of their time with his love of boating in the 1000 Islands. His proud Scottish heritage was evident with his passion for gardening - his father's passion as well. Bill will be dearly missed by all - the Lord is very lucky to have received such a man.
At Bill's request, a private family service was held at Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in Winchester. Inurnment was at Maitland Cemetery.
