Patrick Moran

A lifetime resident of the Chesterville area, Patrick Moran passed away at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Thurs., May 20, 2010, following a brief illness. He was 75. He was born in Chesterville on Nov. 7, 1934 to his parents, James and Margaret Moran (nee Allen), and he was raised on the family farm along with his sister Theresa. He attended school at Limerick S.S. #9 and Chesterville High School. Following high school, he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway for one year before taking a job at Fyke's garage in Chesterville. On June 14, 1958 he married Beulah Byers and together they had five children; Cheryl, Mark, Karen, Kim, and John.
Pat worked at Fyke's garage from 1958 to1970 and then he attended Algonquin College to become a licensed mechanic. After becoming licensed in 1971, he worked at the Texaco in Chesterville until 1983 when he quit mechanic work and began working full time at home on the family farm. He and Beulah farmed until 1997 when they sold the farm and moved into their new home, which kept him busy doing the landscaping and lawn work.
In his early years, Pat loved to dance, and in his later years he enjoyed watching movies on television.
Pat is survived by his wife Beulah (nee Byers), his children Cheryl (Doug Liezert) of Glen Stewart, Mark (Mimi Droppo) of Kemptville, Karen (Scott Waram) of Calgary, Kim (David Irven) of Chesterville, and John of Kemptville, his grandchildren, Sharma (Curtis), Jamie, Allison, Kyle, Justin, Dana, Julie, and Krista, his great-grandchildren Dominic and Brogan, and his sister, Theresa Masterson of Chesterville. He will be fondly remembered by many family and friends.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Mon., May 24. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Chesterville on Tues., May 25 with Father Cosmas officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Tom Henderson, Stuart Pringle, David Chambers, Kevin Byers, Ken Byers, and Greg Sullivan.
In memorial, donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
