Charles 'Delbert' Robinson
Charles 'Delbert' Robinson passed
away peacefully at Niagara Falls, Ont., on June 24, 2010, after
a lengthy illness.
Born June 9, 1924 on the farm near Winchester, the youngest of
Herbert and Lillie Ethel (Annable) Robinson's five children; Dalton
(Leila), Willis (Christena), Annie (Herb) Gibson, and Myrna (Wallace)
Cinnamon, he left for southern Ontario in the late 1940s.
Delbert worked at Cyanamid of Canada, Welland Plant for most of
his adult life, retiring for medical reasons at the age of 59.
Despite his disability, he still enjoyed travelling, especially
home to Winchester to visit family. On June 6, 2010, he celebrated
his 86th birthday at the home of his niece, Joyce (Stuart) Holmes
in Osgoode, surrounded by relatives, and with his sister, Myrna
and sister-in-law Christena by his side. Delbert always delighted
in telling jokes, teasing family and friends, and maintained that
tradition during his visit from June 1 to 8.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn (Fisher) in 1964, he is
survived by children David Robinson, New Westminster, B.C, and
Deborah (Les) Parton, and grandchildren; Evelyn and William Parton
of Tsawwassen, B.C.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Joan, her son Stephen Plane and
his family of the Niagara area. He is also survived by his sister,
Myrna Cinnamon of Dundas Manor in Winchester, and sister-in-law
Christena Cumming of The Hartford Retirement Centre in Morrisburg.
He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and their
families.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Fri., Aug. 20, at 11 am
at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Ave.,
Niagara Falls, followed by committal at Lundy's Lane Cemetery.
