Jean Whitford
Jean Whitford, a resident of Iroquois for the past eight years, passed away at the Carefor Hospice in Cornwall on Tues., Oct. 12, 2010, at the age of 77.
Jean was born in Cornwall on July 30, 1933, to her parents, Omer and Leontine Boileau (nee Marleau). She married Floyd Whitford on Aug. 26, 1950. Jean and Floyd moved to Gallingertown in 1966 to become dairy farmers, and later, open Whitford Construction Company. Jean worked side-by-side with her husband for 51 years, and raised seven children. She was an avid gardener, and her flower display often stopped traffic on their quiet road. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and quilting. The children at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) were especially grateful for her quilts. She was especially known for her extensive salt and pepper collection, numbering in the hundreds. Her constant companion was her dog, Patty. They could often been seen taking in the fresh air - Patty in the stroller and Jean walking proudly behind. She rarely missed her weekly card game, and was a committed member of Pastor Leavitt's parish.
Jean is survived by her children, Linda (George) Laframboise of Osgoode, Gary (Judith) of RR# 2 Ingleside, Garland (Patricia) of Cardinal, Cathy (Eugene) Cashubec of Killaloe, Garth (Sue) of Lindsay, and Garson (Krystal) of RR# 2 Ingleside; her siblings Roland (Connie) Boileau of Cornwall, and Lillian (Mike) Heagle of Cornwall; and her son-in-law Peter Bisaillon of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her daughter, Fay Bisaillon, her parents, Omer and Leontine Boileau, her sister, Lise Boileau, and her brothers, Euclid and Maurice Boileau. Jean will be fondly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Pastor Leavitt and her parish members, her fellow card players, and her faithful companion, Patty.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg, on Mon., Oct. 18 from 11 am until time of the memorial service at 12 noon, which was officiated by Pastor Leavitt. Interment of cremated remains followed at New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg. The pallbearers were her sons, Gary, Garth, and Garson, and son-in-law Peter Bisaillon.
